If This Doesn't Encourage People, Nothing Will

Baylor Law Review sent out an official school-wide email to prospective candidates that awesomely started as follows:

THE BAYLOR LAW REVIEW WRITE-ON COMPETITION

A Chance at Almost as Much Prestige as Going to UT

Second-Year Students: You may have missed the grade-on, but you can still be on the Baylor Law Review. Your research skills will improve. Your citations will become pristine. The employers that used to ignore you will be dying to hire you. Members of the opposite sex will continue to ignore you.

WOW . . .

How about: If this doesn't annoy people, nothing will.

There's nothing I like more than a big ole pile of arrogance, sprinkled with some self-deprecation. As if to say: "Hey all NON-Law review LOSERS, come be one of us and you'll be cool. . . but we're not really that cool. We could be cooler. But, that being said, we still kick your ass."

Listen, we're all really impressed that you got one more point on an exam. But, here's the truth, with few exception, anyone at Baylor could be on law review - it's not like high school where you had morons in the same class as geniuses. We're all on the same level. Just look at PC - I didn't see law review people excel at advocacy (save 2 or 3 individuals).

I guess, my problem with law review is that they forget that the only thing that separates them from the rest of us is a thin line . . . oh, and a door with a keypad on it.

at emory we have 3 law reviews and between 25 to 30% of the class are on one of the journals (emory law review, bankruptcy law review, international law review).

maybe bls needs another law review which would make law review more accessible to more students and help them get jobs.

Good to see you aren't bitter about it, though.

It's true... (not the bitter part but the keypad part)

There is interest for a second jounral at Baylor, however, it is impossible with the Practice Court program. Although students are interested in their second year, as soon as PC hits in the third year, it's all over. And there is no faulty support for a second journal. BLS has chosen to have Practice Court over everything else.
