Apparently I Crossed the Line

Following Secured, I was approached by a PC student and for several minutes berated for my post entitled, "Kind of Like Reward Points." In sum I was told I've embarrassed myself, this school, and most importantly my professors.

Before I apologize, which I will, I must first ask one question. Why is anyone embarrassed?

Lexis hired Jacquelyn because she knows Total Litigator. She passed the NY bar, she practices in a field considered more difficult than most and she was the person best suited to teach the subject. What else matters? Do provocative pictures make her a bad person? Do they make her less intelligent?

She wasn't brought in to represent the school or any person in it; she wasn't brought in to instill a moral compass. Her job was to represent a good product and represented it well. That's exactly what she did . . . nothing more, nothing less.

I'm not Sherlock Holmes; I didn't uncover some mystery or intentionally out a scandal. I was writing about what I was told and made it clear I had no first hand knowledge of anything being discussed. The post was written because it was funny. It was funny because lawyers aren't known for being sexy. There was a joke in there. That's what I was going for.

Several people in PC told me I should expect to receive community service or eventually fail PC. I'll cross those bridges when the time comes, until then all I can do is apologize.

You didn't do anything wrong. You just blogged about a story that everyone in PC and some other baylor law students already knew about. If any PC students or anyone else gives you shit, they are the ones causing the drama.

I agree with Anon 5:51. I don't see how you've embarrassed anyone. PC people know about it and they're talking about it, and honestly, once it's on the internet, it's fair game for anyone to find. She put it up there, someone found it, someone told you, and on and on. No one at the Law school knew anything about it (I assume) when she was brought in, so it's not like they knewa nd were doing it on the sly, and she's not a Baylor rep - she's a Lexis rep, for what that's worth. And it's not exactly a secret - it's not like you broke the Monica Lewinsky story. People need to just calm themselves down.

As a current P.C. student I know exactly who it was that chewed you out. You have nothing to apologize for. You are certainly not the one to blame for offending an individual's over fragile sensibilities. People at this law school need to get over themselves and develop a sense of humor.

Not that Swanburg should be considered Woodward or Bernstein, but he does do some good reporting. It's not his fault that a woman who likes to wear skimpy clothing and plaster pictures of such all over the internet came to Baylor Law. He just wrote the story. Him, some firsthand witnesses, and Google. Instead of taking the story for what it is, people immediately start attacking the messanger and not the message. Who invited her to the law school in the first place? It sure wasn't Swanburg.

Now the jokes on the other hand have nothing to do with reporting... those were just good writing.

A lot of people at Baylor Law need to get over themselves and just start enjoying life. This dust-up just shows why people get so bent out of shape over other stuff - they are wound too tight. You'll never get through Baylor Law unscathed if you don't stop and enjoy yourself once in a while.

I'm an alum and I thought it was damn funny.

Don't apologize Swanburg - you did nothing wrong. The only thing you've tried to do is bring some fun into people's lives while they're going through hell.

You didn't do anything wrong nor should you apologize. That was a great post - it was almost as funny as the test in biz org post.

Don't worry about it. There is zero chance that your PC experience will get worse because of this.

What I find ironic is that the person that I was told chewed you out is, im fairly certain, the person that went and told Prof. Wren about it in the first place.

what makes this even more funny is the person who created and emailed that "Total Litigator" mock-inspiration pic created a hotmail address (total_litigator@hotmail.com) to send it from. and still no one knows who sent it out. or at least no ones talking. i dont blame them. the toben junta has no sense of humor.

To the PC student who decided to rant on Swanny (we know you're reading for your 15 min of Swanny fame):

Swanny = Funny

You = Pain in the Ass Moral Police

It's not your job to decide who is/is not representing the school well. Let the administration handle that. The admin knows all about this blog. Hell profs and staff post on here from time to time.

Swanny is a grown-ass man who can deal with his own stuff.

AS a direct result of her sexy sex appeal, I am going to go to all the LexisNexis workshops and become an expert. All because of you Swanburg. Swanburg, I owe you more than you will ever know.

As for the person who chewed you out, she is simply ridiculous. I am so sick and tired of the "moral" majority. She is a pretty girl who likes to show off her body. Hell, If I had a body like Matthew McConahay(sp), I would put all of these sexy time pictures of my self on my myspace.(As I have a body like the 40 year old virgin, I will pass)

I just hope this school lets her stay and teach us all the great things we can do with the Total Lit.

AM I the only that has noticed that LexisNexis follows a very common business plan: SEX SELLS. Both girls who have come to this campus have been gorgeous

Ok, I went back and read the post and still don't understand how the PC moron attributed that "scandal" to you. Furthermore, how does your post reflect poorly on Baylor? I realize I'm just repeating what everyone else has said, but what an idiot!
