Top 10 Speakers Leaked

An anonymous tipster has informed me that the top ten speakers have been potentially leaked. In no particular order, these people were sent an e-mail saying that the 10 of them should show up for tomorrow's final round. Not to be a spoiler for those that don't want to know, I put the names in white font. Highlight the area below and names will magically appear.

Alex Bell
Stephen Bolline
Lindsey Cox
Stephen Debye
Tim Goines
Rebecca Hild
Richard Howell
Daniel Keesee
Jeremy Masten
Clayton Schramm
Justin Scott
Crystal Ybaro

Now, I see two glaring problems with my theory. One, there are twelve names on this list, two, TJ (name in white font) my personal favorite, isn't on here.

Maybe there is 12 because two of the people wrote the best brief.

What did they leak?

Some of this list is crap. Not to take away from anyone who is on the list, but...well wait-a-minute, I do want to take away from some of the people on this list...TJ should have definitely been on this list. Not that it would have given him anything more, it still goes to show that the current barrister "guidelines" are not up to snuff. And, I guarranty that at least 3 or so people on the list got there primarily due to "friendly" (read: lazy/spineless/overly sympathetic) barristers. I sincerely hope this gets addressed for the next competition.

As for the 12 people thing, that just means that there were multiple ties for certain places.

- Disgruntled Barrister #?

No offense to anyone named, but the top ten list is the most subjective determination out there and not always reflects the quality of the participants.

Speaker points are ultimately an individual determination: different styles appeal to different barristers, some people grade up and some grade down. It just really depends on who you get. It's not the best system, but I don't see how it is avoidable.
