BLS Loses the Sportsmanship Award

Thanks to an anonymous commentator who would undoubtedly shank and report all cheaters, I’m able to bring you the good news: According to the Princeton Review, Baylor ranks number one for “Most Competitive Students!!!”

What the title means, exactly, I’m not sure, but judging from the other schools on the list I think it’s safe to say they didn’t intend for it to be read in a “competition is the whetstone of talent” sort of way.

And not that anyone cares, but I’d argue the perception probably stems from the facts:

1. The quarter system allows students of varying entrance scores the opportunity to compete and prove themselves.
2. The school attracts wannabe litigators who like nothing more than to fight.
3. Being a small law school in Waco, Career Service is able to attract a good number of large firms but not enough small ones to keep everyone employed.
4. The town is tiny enough that when you go out drinking and don’t see your classmates, you assume they’re home studying.
5. There is an endless supply of students willing to spend hours in public view looking academically enamored when in fact they’re watching YouTube Pwnage videos.

We've had this ranking for years actually, the grading is part of the reason (our curves are low, even with the new system) so that in order to have a shot at biglaw from Baylor you have to be in the top 5-10 people in your class.
